7 Easy Storage Ideas for Power Tools

I needed to get my power tools organized. My cordless drills were just sitting on my workbench and the jigsaw didn’t have a case. Needless to say my garage needed organization.

Not knowing what I should do I searched for storage ideas for power tools. There were a lot of projects which made it hard to choose.

1: Power Tool Storage with French Cleats:

April over at www.wilkerdos.com made a French cleat system to store her power tools. It’s pretty simple to construct you can do it with scrap wood. I like how flexible the storage is with French cleats. You are able to rearrange things as you please.

If I had more room on my walls this would be the way to go.

2: Power Tool Shelf and Cord Organization:

Mike over at Mike and Lauren YouTube channel made a power tool storage shelf. It has built in power cord storage to keep things neat and tidy. This shelf is easy enough for anyone to make. You will need a table saw and dado blade to make some of the cuts.

3: Hanging Power Tool System:

A user over at DIY Chat Room has a simple system to store power tools. It’s not something I have seen before and doesn’t take much to make. You will have to attach a lanyard and hook to your power tools in order to hang them.

4: Use PVC Pipe to Store Your Cordless Drills:

I found this neat drill storage idea over at Pinterest. It’s an excellent idea if you have some spare PVC pipe. Even if you don’t you can always go to the hardware store and grab some 3” pipe.

5: Power Tool Storage System with Drawer:

Amy over at Her Tool Belt built a storage shelf for cordless tools. She installed a power strip to charge her cordless tool batteries and keep things organized. More organization is always welcome in my garage!

It is a simple project and won’t take much wood to make. You may have to modify the plans to fit your specific tools.

6: Simple Cordless Drill Storage Shelf:

A user over at Woodworking Talk built a simple storage shelf for his cordless drills. It is a very easy project that a beginner can make. It’s small enough that you could make it out of scrap wood if you wanted to.

7: Use Large Hooks to Hang Your Cordless Drills:

Popular Woodworking had an idea for a simple storage shelf. It makes use of large hooks used for hanging bikes. It is the simplest project I found and can be modified depending on the number of tools you have. When looking for hooks make sure you get ones large enough to fit your drills.
